DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – There will be several opportunities to safely get rid of unused or expired medications this weekend across the region.
Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day and the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Offices in Virginia and Hibbing will staff drug drop boxes from 10 a-m to 2 p-m on that day.
In Duluth, the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) is holding a day-long turn in event at their Household Hazardous Waste Facility from 8 to 4:30 on Friday.
Residents can safely dispose of unwanted medications and medical sharps free of charge. You can also drop off household paints, stains, cleaners, chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, rechargeable batteries, or other hazardous materials free of charge at the WLSSD during their event on Friday.
In addition many law enforcement agencies have unwanted medication drop boxes available at their offices throughout the year for secure, safe disposal of prescription drugs.
